Insulated Dummy Board - Brood
This insulated dummy board is designed for use in brood boxes and is widely used when operating hives with double brood configurations. Adding two insulated dummy boards reduces the number of frames in a National brood body to eight, making brood boxes lighter and easier to handle. This also creates a brood nest shape that more closely reflects the elongated nests bees naturally build in the wild.
The board is equally effective for overwintering, allowing hives to be maintained on a single brood body. When used in pairs, the insulated dummy boards provide valuable natural insulation to the brood area, helping to support colony comfort during colder months.
Each dummy board is d filled with wood shavings, providing effective natural insulation. It is constructed with a pine frame and 6mm plywood panels, offering a robust and practical solution suitable for year-round use.
