Oxybee
Oxybee is an effective and organic method for applying oxalic acid to treat varroa mites during broodless periods.
The product includes two sachets of powder containing essential oils and sugar, along with a bottle of oxalic acid and glycerol. Early research indicates that glycerol enhances the adhesion of oxalic acid to the bees, facilitating better spread throughout the colony. It also increases the solution's ability to retain moisture, prolonging its effectiveness within the hive. Field studies have shown Oxybee to be more effective than traditional oxalic acid and sucrose formulations.
To use Oxybee, the powder and oxalic acid are mixed and then applied between the frames occupied by bees using a syringe. A litre of the mixture can treat between 20 and 30 hives, depending on the number of seams of bees present.
Unlike other oxalic acid treatments, Oxybee boasts a long shelf life. It lasts up to 24 months from the date of manufacture, and once prepared, the mixture can be stored in the fridge for up to a year. Additionally, there is no mandatory waiting period between treatment and honey harvest, allowing immediate honey use after application.
Oxybee should only be used on broodless colonies, making it ideal for late autumn or winter, when the queen stops laying and the bees cluster for winter. If brood is consistently present, a brood break must be induced, which can be done by caging the queen for 25 days, removing the brood, or splitting the colony.

VespaCatch: The Ultimate Natural Solution for Asian Hornet Control
Product Overview: The VespaCatch trap is a highly effective, insecticide-free solution specifically designed to control Asian hornets. Utilizing a natural attractant, this trap is engineered to lure and contain hornets, providing protection for your hives, gardens, terraces, and pools.
Key Features:
- Specialized Design: The VespaCatch trap features a unique yellow bowl, known to attract Asian hornets, and a strategically designed lid with two entrances. The shape and color optimize the attraction, while the lid's tunnel prevents hornets from escaping by focusing and directing the scent while blocking ambient light.
- Natural Attractant Solution: The attractant used in the VespaCatch trap is derived from plant extracts, offering an eco-friendly and pesticide-free alternative for hornet control. It is carefully formulated to attract Asian hornets without harming beneficial insects like bees.
- Easy to Use: Setting up the trap is simple. Just mix the attractant with water and sugar, place the trap in high-traffic hornet areas, and let it work. The trap’s efficacy increases over time, and for optimal results, it is recommended not to clean the trap during solution renewal.
Available Formats:
- Single Dose (10ml)
- 1-Litre Bottle
Effective Trapping Strategies:
- Spring Trapping: Target early-season hornets to limit the number of future nests and reduce the overall threat level during autumn.
- Autumn Trapping: Intensify trapping efforts during autumn when hornet activity peaks, as they search for sugar-rich food sources. This helps to protect your apiaries from severe attacks.
Recommended Placement:
- Hang traps at a height of 1.5 to 3 meters or place them close to flight boards and other hornet pathways.
- Adjust the number of traps based on hornet population density to maximize capture efficiency.
Usage Tips:
- Ensure traps are placed in the right locations where hornets are active.
- Monitor traps regularly and renew the attractant solution every three weeks or when the trap reaches saturation.
Safety Information:
- Contains ethanol. Store in a dry place at room temperature, away from children and pets. Avoid contact with eyes or skin, and consult a physician if accidental ingestion or contact occurs.
