Labelling Guidance – How to Label Your Honey Jars
To ensure your jars meet legal standards and look their best, please follow these guidelines:
1. Label Size and Fit
-
Measure your jar carefully before selecting a label design.
-
Ensure the label fits smoothly without wrapping over edges or curves.
2. Application Tips
-
Jars should be clean, dry, and at room temperature to ensure strong adhesion.
-
Labels are provided on rolls, compatible with most label applicator machines.
-
If applying by hand, use firm, even pressure to avoid creases or air bubbles.
3. Weight Declaration
-
Food labelling laws require that metric weight is listed first, followed by imperial.
-
Example:
227g (8oz)
, not8oz (227g)
.
4. Best Before Date
-
Use a clear format such as “Best Before End: Dec 2026”.
-
This helps your customers understand product freshness and shelf life.
5. Country of Origin
-
You must state where the honey was harvested or packed.
-
Acceptable formats include: “Produce of England”, “Made in the UK”, or similar.
6. Accuracy and Compliance
-
Double-check your customisation details for accuracy and spelling.
-
All required information must be legible and truthful to ensure product traceability and regulatory compliance.
